Quick answers
How is statutory redundancy pay worked out?
Half a week's pay for each full year you were under 22, one week for each year aged 22 to 40, and one and a half weeks for each year aged 41 or over, counting your last 20 years. Weekly pay is capped at £751, so the most you can get is £22,530. This page counts each year at the age you were for most of it, so the exact dates can move the result a little.
What counts as a week's pay?
Your normal gross weekly pay. If it varies, the average over the 12 weeks before you were given notice. Anything above £751 a week is ignored for the statutory amount.
Is redundancy pay taxed?
Statutory redundancy pay under £30,000 is not taxable. Holiday pay, unpaid wages and bonuses in the same payment are taxed as normal.
